Becoming a Geisha requires many years of training in a dedicated school called OKIYA. This education, close to the military training, is extremely demanding.
Only one student out of three will meet success. The Geisha masters all traditional japanese arts : wearing kimono, dancing, playing shamisen, serving tea, playing traditional games. The Geisha devotes her whole life to practicing these arts in order to entertain a wealthy clientele. The number of Geisha dicreases relentlessly. It is even rare to meet them.
